UMOM (United Methodist Outreach Ministries). The UMOM New Day Center is the largest shelter for homeless families in the state of Arizona. St. Matthew provides meals every Friday evening and other opportunities for hands-on ministry. UMOM is always in need of many kinds of volunteer help. Our Mission is to provide homeless and low-income families with food, shelter and tools to build a bridge to self-sufficiency. Our Vision is to be a leader in breaking the cycle of homelessness. Sidewalk Sunday School. The Sidewalk Sunday School Ministry focuses on teaching urban children and their families the basic fundamentals of Christianity: teaching empowerment through Christ to turn away from the negative community cycles that face them, and to turn their hearts, minds and actions toward a lifestyle that contains promise and Hope for the future.

Wesley Community Center Wesley Community Center. This United Methodist ministry located in south-central Phoenix, has served low-income residents of the Nuestro Barrio since 1950. Wesley Community Center offers ESL classes, literacy classes, after-school crafts and sports programs, a licensed preschool, an emergency food bank, and many other programs designed to enrich the community and the lives of its citizens. The St. Matthew United Methodist Women (UMW)
assemble men's tube socks with gifts for the Sidewalk Sunday School to give their children at Christmas, and different groups at St. Matthew collect food to donate tot he food bank. Habitat for Humanity. St. Matthew is proud to be part of the "Mighty Methodist Coalition," a group of volunteers from local United Methodist Churches that meet several times a year to construct houses through the Valley of the Sun Habitat for Humanity. As a Community Partner of Habitat, the Might Methodist Coalition also finances the construction of the homes it builds. St. Matthew provides volunteers and funding for this important effort.
