St. Matthew UMC is a Safe Sanctuary church, where children experience a safe, caring, and loving environment.  Following the Children’s Moment at our 9:00 traditional worship, Sunday School classes are provided for children from 2 years through 5th grade.  During the 10:30 contemporary worship, Children’s Church is provided. We believe that Bible lessons for children should include fun, hands-on, learning activities.  We want children to grow to understand that God’s Word applies to their lives; they can talk to God; and they can build lasting friendships.  For more information about any of our children’s programs, please contact our Children’s Ministries Coordinator, .

Other opportunities for children at St. Matthew include our children’s choirs and our Scouting ministry.

See our childcare program for infants and younger children, or our youth program for 6th-12th graders.

Jesus’ Jumpstarts  9:00 a.m.
This program is for children ages 2 (potty trained) to Pre-Kindergarten. We provide children with opportunities to explore Bible stories with fun, hands-on, learning activities. Imagine a space where learning Bible stories is FUN!

God’s Kids  9:00 a.m.
Children who are in Kindergarten through 2nd grades learn the Bible through stories, crafts, music and games. They experience a variety of activities, all supporting the Bible lesson in fun, imaginative ways.

Jesus’ Rock Stars  9:00 a.m.
This class is for children who are in 3rd through 5th grades. Teachers help the children understand Bible lessons by using current, real-life situations. All activities are geared to engage “tweens” in an amazing experience.

Children’s Church  10:30 a.m.
Children’s Church is an “all-ages” learning experience where children participate in hands-on Bible basics.  At 11:15, Children’s Church returns children to the contemporary worship service so they can share the Cup of Blessing Communion with their parents/family.

New to St. Matthew? We’d love to have you join us! We have something for the whole family.  Our children’s program is designed for children from birth through 5th grade. We focus on building relationships with the children so they will feel safe and unconditionally loved while they are in our care. While we believe that parents are the primary nurturers of their child’s spiritual development, we take our responsibility to heart in partnering with families to build a strong spiritual foundation in the lives of their children. The curriculum we use is fun, age-appropriate, hands-on, and engaging.

YOUR FIRST VISIT
Plan to allow an extra 10 minutes before church to register your family and introduce your children to their classes. Stop by the Children’s Ministry table on the Worship Center patio. You can fill out an Information Card and check your children into class, and one of our volunteers will walk you to the appropriate class(es).

CLASSES
We offer learning experiences for children during both services. Our classrooms have a solid learning process, which teaches kids where they are, guides them to discover what is true, helps them understand it, and then challenges them to do something in response.

SAFETY
We are committed to the safety of your child. We are set up with a child check-in system that ensures a safe way to drop off and pick up your child. You can also be sure that all of our volunteers and staff have been trained and screened. They are ready to welcome your child each time you are here with us. Our goal is that each child is protected here at St. Matthew.

We are creating the best day of the week for children!
