Deaf Ministries

In addition to the opportunities listed below, all Sunday morning services have a Sign language interpreter and FM assisted listening devices are available at all services in the Sanctuary. Large-print bulletins are also available at all services.

Deaf Bible Study. Wednesdays 10:00 AM in Pastor Diana's Office. Our Deaf Bible Study is lead by Pastor Diana Williams. It is planned for deaf people and is conducted in Sign Language and voice.

Deaf Ministries Worship Services. Seasonal - dates and times to be announced. Deaf Ministries worship services are held seasonally. They are ecumenical and created to be accessible to deaf and hard-of-hearing people as well as hearing people. The service is conducted in sign language and voice, with words simultaneously displayed on screen.

Sign Language Class (ASL). Seasonal - dates and times to be announced. Our Sign Language class is structured to accommodate both hearing impaired people and hearing people. It aims to teach conversational signing and to inform about living with hearing impairment. Children are welcome with an adult.

The Hands of Joy Sign Language Choir. Wednesdays 6:00 PM in Fellowship Hall. Hands of Joy is an ecumenical, intergenerational choir that presents by invitation around the Valley and state ... and sometimes out-of-state. The choir presents about thirty concerts a year. Visitors to rehearsals are warmly welcomed.

The Hands of Praise Youth Sign Language Choir. Mondays 6:00 PM in Rooms D23-24. Hands of Praise is a beginning sign language choir for youth and children. The members learn sign language and performance skills in a fun environment, presenting in worship services and at other church events. All children and youth (ages 8 and up) are encouraged to join.

The Sign Language Club - An Ongoing Service Organization. Meets as Needed. Our Sign Language club works continuously to provide out reach services, to supply information and referral services, to hold celebrations, to present educational events, and to visit with deaf people in hospitals, care centers, or private homes. It also maintains a small library of commercially-made and privately-made videotapes of sign language lessons for anyone who wants to use them to practice sign language at home.
