In addition to the regular service projects performed by individual groups at St. Matthew, the church sponsors several local and international programs to benefit people in the world around us.

Missions

Bulgaria Our church is now in a mission partnership with the Shumen UMC in Bulgaria. This partnership was facilitated by the General Board of Global Ministries. As a partnership church we promise to support the Shumen church monetarily, and also by sending and receiving people from the two churches.

Rev. Mihail Stefanov just received his first appointment at Shumen UMC. The Shumen Church is known as a church that grows new ministers. Rev. Margarita Todorova, who visited St. Matthew in 2004, had her first appointment with the Shumen Church. Andy and Kaye Rountree are in communication with Rev. Stefanov via email and will be traveling to Bulgaria to visit with him in person. St. Matthew hopes to send mission teams in the future. If you feel a calling to visit and encourage our new Partner Church please contact the Rountree’s.

Our Covenant is one of prayer, presence, gifts and service.

Sierra Leone.
Foreign Missions St. Matthew has a covenant relationship with Beth Ferrell, a United Methodist missionary in Sierra Leone. As a congregation, we have pledged to support her spiritually and financially with our prayers, some funding, and medical supplies. Her mission center is currently in great need of medicines and medical supplies. Check the Welcome Table or the Missions Committee page regularly for an update list of her needs.
